-Did my exercises! Flossed my teeth! Scooped the litter boxes! Which mostly entails picking up all the fucking pee pads. I *should* just try putting towels in the corners. I'm back to feeling at my wits end here.
-Made the mochi brownies yesterday, but they were kind of disappointing. Tomorrow we're going out and I have eight thousand meetings, so maybe Wednesday or Thursday I'll make the almond blondies. The vegan muffins came out beautifully, which was nice.
-No caffeine before a blood donation means lower blood pressure, so it actually took closer to 10 minutes this time. Mo was done before me, which never happens. I crashed a bit after all the baking, but sitting on the floor eating kimchi helped. Gotta remember salty snacks for afterwards.
-I'm trading in all my blood money for gift cards (lol), and I'll use those gift cards
to buy a fancy litter genie. Next paycheck I'll maybe buy another covered box.
-Need to get an oil change and new brakes. Might try to schedule that for Tuesday, since nothing is going on.
-Dentist on Friday. I'm slightly peeved that they lost my original appointment because I don't particularly want to go in the middle of the day. But I can walk there, I guess, and get coffee after, maybe.
-Really excited for next weekend. *Really* tempted to drive the extra 4.5 hours to Philly.
-Starting to enjoy The Left Hand of Darkness a bit more. I can recognize how masterful Le Guin is at her craft even if I find Genly Ai *incredibly* obnoxious. At least it's intentional obnoxiousness. Maybe when I'm done, I'll see if the library has any Octavia Butler or Cherryh. It's so strange to be reading TLHoD after all the Ann Leckie; we've hit as point where a lot of
modern sf is *not* informed by the historical greats of the genre, and I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing. Then again, I don't know that I could actually stomach Heinlein at this point in my life.
-I am reminded, somewhat, of the fact that I did major in English because I like to read and analyze literature. I'm dreadfully rusty at it these days, though.
-I've got to write more. The words are crawling around my skull and I've got to get them out, but my fingers feel extra clumsy on my stupid little phone keyboard lately.
