Oh, sweet crispy crackers why is it still February? The shortest month always feels so long.
I've been in something of a downswing all month for various physical-emotional-hormonal reasons, which has sucked, to put it mildly. I seem to be getting out of it, though, and I have rediscovered the joy of baking as stress relief. I had to buy more molasses this week- I don't think I've ever made so many gingersnaps that I've run out of molasses before. If this continues, I will move on to esoterically spiced cookies- there's a profundity of cardamom and saffron in the cupboards that no one is using, and butter was on sale this week.
I've got a box of books up for auction at Help the Project over on Livejournal- I'm running out of bookshelves, so I will fill a slightly-larger-than-shoebox sized box with books/graphic novels/manga that I am no longer so attached to for the highest bidder. Possibly a much-larger-than-shoebox sized box if bidding reaches an arbitrarily "high enough" point.
If I can get over my inherent laziness and actually inventory all the books I don't want, I may post a list up here for anyone to take. I will happily pay shipping to anyone and anywhere just to get this stuff off my floor at this point.
Thinking of doing something similar for Con or Bust, or possibly putting up a pair of earrings for auction. My jewelry photography is still nowhere near where I would like it to be, but it's getting better. (Sunlight is awesome! Who knew?) I've managed a few successful pictures of some pieces that I feel actual pride in- they are all over yonder on my flickr. (Eventually, I will have enough pictures that I feel are halfway decent to actually put things up on Etsy. If I keep telling myself this, I might actually do it.)
Also been watching the Olympics and delighting in the American and Canadian skaters- I missed most of the pairs, but caught the men's and ice dancing competitions, and most of the women's short program yesterday. Normally I do have a perverse tendency to root for the Russians, but I just couldn't do that in good conscience this year, what with the Russian ice dancers' "Aboriginal" themed original dance. Yahoo has an article that shows pretty clearly what went wrong there. Just- ugh.
And I have Thoughts on a bunch of things like White Collar and Leverage and Slings and Arrows (we just reached the beginning of the third season D:) and One Piece, as well as some general commentary about stuff I've been doing in class (we're covering marriage and the family in my politics class and my gender class, and I can feel the need to dig my rantin' pants out of the closet), but alas, this entry is long enough as it is, and I need to go to work.
